這套漫畫作品的的動畫版會取名為「疾風傳」是因為主角漩渦鳴人將會學習一個新的忍術，而該忍術正是與風有關。
《火影忍者-疾風傳-》主要是描述漩渦鳴人在與自來也出外修行兩年半後所發生的故事。
現在，曉組織所說的三年期限已經到了，各成員們已開始行動，並陸續亮相，與主角們展開激烈的戰鬥……
