Algebra help...?

Two words: Distributive property.
that means that whatever is on the outside of the parenthesis, you multiply by the numbers and variales on the inside so:

3-2(4t-3)
3-2 is 1
so 1(4t-3)
1x4t=4t
1x3=3
so it is simplified(or left at)
4t-3

2(2b-3d+e)
usind the DP you multipley 2 by each seperate term.
2x2b=4b
2x3d=6d
2xE=2e

so the answer is
4b-3d+2e


then
x(x-2)-3(x'squared'-8)

lets forget this part right now -3(x'squared'-8)
and work with: x(x-2)
x times x= X'squared
x times 2 is 2x
so its x'squared - 2x
then: -3(x'squared'-8)
the minus sign in front of the 3 is going to make the 3 negative
so
-3 times x'squared is -3xsquared
a negative times a negative is a positive so
-3 x -8= +24
so you get
-3x squared +24[the 24 is positive so we put a plus sign]

then we bring in the first half and put it together:
x'squared - 2x-3x squared +24
then we combine like terms
x squared and 3xsquared are the only ones

x squared -3x squared
=-2x squared
then
2x squared - 2x+ 24

in order to solve these questions you need to multiply all the elements in the bracket by the number(and sign) of the element in front of the bracket. so what does this mean.....
3-2(4t-3)
in this chase you need to go
(-2*4t) +(-2*-3)+3
=-8t+6+3 (remember that a -*-= +
=-8t+9

now the third one gets a little more difficult
x(x-2)-3(x^2-8)
(x*x)+(x*-2)+(-3*x^2)+(-3*-8)
x^2-2x-3x^2-24
=-2x^2-2x-24

= 2*2b - 2*3d + 2*e
= 4b - 6d + 2e

x(x - 2) - 3(x^2 - 8)
= x*x - x*2 - 3*x^2 + 3*8
= x^2 - 2x - 3x^2 + 24
= x^2 - 3x^2 - 2x + 24
= -2x^2 - 2x + 24
= (-2x - 6)(x - 4) (factorize)

4)
x(x - 3) - 4(x - 3)
= x*x - x*3 - 4*x + 4*3
= x^2 - 3x - 4x + 12
= x^2 - 7x + 12
= (x - 3)(x - 4) (factorize)

when you have a number in front of parenthesis you multiply only that number with each number in the parenthesis: 3 - 2(4t-3) so leave the 3 out for now, so it's -2 * 4t = -8t, -2 * -3= 6, so then the equations is 3 - 8t + 6, combine like terms you get: 9 - 8t.
~ 4b-6d+2e, no like terms so thats the final answer
~ x^2-2x-3x^2+24, the x^2 and -3x^2 are like terms because they are both squared, so its -2x^2-2x+24
~ x^2-3x-4x+12, x^2-7x+12

3-2(4t-3)
=3-8t+6

2(2b-3d+e)
=4b-6d+2e

x(x-2)-3(x'squared'-8)
=x^2-2x-3x'squared'-8

x(x-3) -4(x-3)
=x^2-3x-4x+12

This homework is to show you order of operations and the distributive property. So
1.) First you take the 3-2=1. So now it is 1(4t-3). Then you distribute the one. And anything multiplied is one doesnt change. So it is just 4t-3. (I believe.)
2.)Take the 2 and distribute to all of the other numbers. In case you don't understand the word distribute you just take the number outside the parenthesis and multiply it to all of the #s inside the parenthesis.
So take the 2. Multiply 2b times 2. then 3d times 2. then e times 2. So 4b-6d+2e
3.) Distribute the x 1st. So its (Xsquared-2x)-3(xsquared-8)
then distribute the 3. Xsquared-2x-3xsquared+24 (The 24 becomes positive b/c u not only distribute the #, but the sign as well) Im not sure if you are expected to simplify this, if so then you get -2xsquared-2x+24. (I just combined the like terms.)
4.)Last one. Distribute. SO its xsquared-3x-4x+3. Simplified its xsquared-7x+3.
