律政司司長的職責包括：
專門負責香港政府的法律事務，包括提出所有刑事檢控，草擬政府提出的所有法律，以及為香港政府提供法律意見等。

His responsibility is to assist the Chief Executive of Hong Kong in overseeing policy formulation and implementation in financial, monetary, economic, trade and employment matters. He exercises control over the Exchange Fund, with the assistance of the Monetary Authority.
