I am a F.6 student. I do fairly well in comprehension and listening. However, composition is always my weakness. When I see some words, I can get their meaning easily. But I don't know how to use them properly in my composition. Also my teacher always says that my English is "Hong Kong style English", but I don't know how to fix it. For the above reasons, my composition is always bad..
Can someone please tell me some effective methods to improve my composition skills?

I actually read Eng books and watch Eng TV and I always check the meaning of the words I don't know. However I will soon forget the meaning of those vocab. When I see that word again, I just can't remember the meaning. So this is also the main reason that the vocabs in my compo is very weak.

reply to lalaona.greencat: yup, I write this by myself.. my grammer is actually OK(that means I will not make much grammer mistakes), but my major problem is the lack of vocabs...

Well, what do you mean by "HK style English"? If I am right, what your teacher said is just about your oral English, which is saying that you speak English in a HK accent. Answering your question, in order to write a good composition, you have to have a large "storage" of vocabularies for you to use them in your composition(s). To know more vocabs, the most crucial thing is to read more. As you read (no matter it is a novel, newspaper or other stuff), you will come across many new vocabs and you have to observe how the writer uses them in his/her work.

Besides, about your HK accent, it is very important to listen to English spoken by native speakers so that you can learn the accent. Also, you can watch English programmes. It doesn't only helps your spoken English, at the same time it also helps you with your listening.
