What further tests would probably help yo identify the structures at which you could not identify in the experiment?

1.Flame test can help to identify the structure .Metal ions can give a sharp colour in flame test.
Why is it more difficult to recognize a powdered metal than a solid lump?
2.Metals are hold together by delocalised electrons .In solid lump,there are many delocalised electrons can conduct electricity .So , using solid lump can show a better effect than powdered metal.
