In our country, prostitutes are called sheilas. This is a confusing concept for the uneducated layman from overseas because non-prostitutes are also referred to as sheilas. For instance, a normal lady might be greeted in the following fashion: "G'day, bloody sheila". In contrast, one would address a true sheila with: "G'day sheila, care to take a ride on my didgeridoo if I buy you a slab?" There is a complicated system to differentiate a true sheila from a regular sheila, the details of which is beyond the scope of this discussion.

i'd say 10%. i bet its pretty dependent on region... like big cities the percentage would be higher.

im from canada. and i think maybe about...%75. there is alot of ways to hire a hooker. its not just your street walkers these days. there is strippers doing extras in the back... not to mention. rub and tugs!

I just looked up a story online that puts it at 10% for England, I would guess America is probably about the same, maybe higher. I'd guess that's about right, say 10-15%.

I think the percentage is high. If a man always had a happy fulfilling mate, and it was a storybook romance, no men would ever stray from home. But we all know that is not the case. I am not saying it is right or proper, but it happens and has been happening for thousands of years. I have heard many men go to a prostitute just for affection and massage, not intercourse. Sometimes they are lacking these intimacies at home and have no social life either, so that is the next logical place to look for that kind of affection.
