Hai, if you want to find a cheap hotel, u can try to go www.easyhotel.com , is from £25up per room, but not breakfast included, and also u can find B&B by www.venere.com or www.hotel.com,for my experience, the better place stay in london are victoria, king cross, bayswater, covent garden. easy hotel also located in Victoria, it is about 5 to 7 mins by walking from victoria underground station.

Underground cannot go to Gatwick. You can go there by train or coach (www.nationalexpress.com) from Victoria station.
London 6days are too much. so i suggest you can go to Cambridge and Oxford as day trip which is not very far from London.
