Amazing! So few of you have ever seen peas growing!
Picking a pea pod fresh off the plant , popping it open and raking out the peas with your teeth and eating them fresh, is such a treat! They do taste a bit like peanuts , hence that is why peanuts got their name. A pea pod is sort of a case that surrounds and protects the peas, the peas being the plants seeds. If a pea pod only has one seed there is something wrong with the plant, in fact if there were only two I would say there is something wrong with the plant.

nope, most pods i've found have had 4-6 peas

I think it is a myth, but with a element of truth to it.
