1) A amn bought some oranges, he found that 24 oranges were bad, which is 3% of all the oranges he bought. How many oranges did he buy?

2) In a certain school, there are 546 girls, that is 52% of the total number of pupils in the school. How many pupils are there in school?

3) 25% of a piece of ice has melted, the remaining ice weighs 39kg, how heavy is the piece of ice?

1. A man bought some oranges, he found that 24 oranges were bad, which

is 3% of all the oranges he bought. How many oranges did he buy?

Sol:

24 ÷ 3%

= 24 ÷ 0.03

= 800

Ans: He bought 800 oranges

2. In a certain school, there are 546 girls, that is 52% of the total number of

pupils in the school. How many pupils are there in school?

Sol:

546 ÷ 52%

= 546 ÷ 0.52

= 1050

Ans: 1050 pupils

3. 25% of a piece of ice has melted, the remaining ice weighs 39kg, How

heavy is the piece of ice?

Sol:

39 ÷ ( 1 - 25% )

= 39 ÷ 0.75

= 52

Ans: 52 kg
