Family heirlooms - ALWAYS return.

Depends on the financial capability of the partners. If it was a big sacrifice, I'd say yes. If the income level was such that it was not a big dent in the budget, then *perhaps*, "No".

The problem is that some people take it personally and WANT that stuff back, perhaps as a last act of revenge - a final statement, if you will.

Finally, perhaps one might have more peace of mind to not have reminders of a failed love, regardless of the cost.

If you're the one who recieved it then heck no, keep that ****! lol but if you gave an expensive gift, then by all means get it back.
