以上兩句哪一句是對?為何對?為何錯?

此外,Longman的英文辭典好,還是牛津的英文辭典較為好?兩本辭典的分別好和壞處在哪?

你所問到的是介詞(Preposition)的問題,介詞可說是英文中最難課題之一,甚至老外自己也往往未能完全掌握,何況我們中國人呢!尤其是repercussions並不是一個常用(非常普遍)的詞語,所以討論介詞的文法書也未提到。故此,我們只有藉著字典去看看,應用甚麼介詞

第一句,絕對正確:

如牛津第六版就有一例:The collapse of the company had repercussions for the whole industry(這家公司的倒閉帶來整個行業負面的影響)

又如:Cambridge Dictoinary Online也有一例:

Any decrease in tourism could have serious repercussions for the local economy(任何旅遊業的下降,或會對本地經濟帶來嚴重負面的影響)

但repercussions也可以與on連用,如:Longman就有一例:

There were serious repercussions on his career.(在他事業上有嚴重負面的影響)

所以,用on或for也可以,只不過意思略有不同,用for是:對某事帶來負面影響;而on是:在某事上做成負面影響。

但因為你的示句意思是:對整個行業帶來負面影響,所以用for會比較好。



2)字典問題,其實牛津,Longman都各有好壞。按我個人的意見,若是經濟容許的話,就不要只有一本字典,因為不同的字典會有互相補足的情況。若你有錢的話,我建議你多買兩本,一本是Collins COBUILD Advanced Learner's English Dictionary,此字典勝在多用例子解釋生字的用法。而另一本是Cambridge,此字典在談及字的屬性,文法的用法也非常詳細。(注:其實許多讀英文的人,家裏都是有多本字典)

I would the second one seems more right, 'repercussion on' since repercussion means an indirect influence or effect, so using 'for' wouldn't be so appropriate.

Also, about the dictionaries, I personally prefer Oxford, since it's generally more concise. Maybe you would want to try the two dictionaries online. (not sure if it's available for free use online though)

I usually use www.dictionary.com, it has different entries from different types of dictionaries.
