Reading this as:-

(1/4) x + (3/2) x = 7 (and not as written)
x + 6x = 28
7x = 28
x = 4

OR PERHAPS YOU MEAN:-

1 / (4x) + 3 / (2x) = 7
1 + 6 = 28x
x = 7/28
x = ¼

Conclusion
Use brackets when presenting a question.

1/4 x + 3/2 x = 7
x/4 + 3x/2 = 7
28(x/4 + 3x/2) = 28(7)
7x + 42x = 196
49x = 196
x = 196/49
x = 4

or

1/4x + 3/2x = 7
1/4x + 6/4x = 7
7/4x = 7
7 = 28x
28x = 7
x = 7/28
x = 1/4

The answer is 4.
1/4+6/4=7x
7/4=7/1

= 28/7
x = 4

1/4x+3/2x=7
or, 1x+(3*2)x/4=7
or, 1x+6x/4=7
or, 7x/4=7
or, x=7*4/7
or, x=4

multiply by 4, LCD

x+6x=28
7x=28

x=4

First, convert to lowest common denominator, which is four - so multiply 3/2 by 2/2:

1/4x + 6/4x = 7

then add the x's:

7/4x = 7

Multiply both sides by 4/7:

x = 4

multiply by 8 to get rid of the denominator
2x + 12x = 56
14x = 56
x = 4

1/4x+3/2x=7
Finding the L.C.M, we have:
1+6/4x=7
Cross Multiplying,
1+6=7x4x
7=28x
Divide both sides by 7
7/7=28x/7
1=4x
Divide both sides by 4
1/4=4x/4
1/4=x
Therefore, x=1/4 (Ans).

1/4x + 3/2x = 7 Multiply thro` by the LCM, 4x:

1 + 6 = 28x, so

7 = 28x, so

x = 7/28, so

x = 1/4.

Hope this helps, Twiggy.
