you have to click "accept friend request"
if that's not an option and you still want to be friends on facebook and want to be able to see his/her perfile
click on "add to friends" and "confirm"
then a friend request will be sent to that person
once you two become friends on facebook you can see each other's profiles
you can also edit privacy settings in the "privacy" link in the top-right corner on the blue bar
