militate against係解 [對...產生不利影響]。如果你只要 [對...有影響] 單用militate就ok，因為你一加 against就等於加咗 [不] 嘅負面意思。例如:
The invisible powers of heaven seemed to militate on the side of the pious emperor.
來自天堂的無形力量似乎只在影響著虔誠帝皇的一方。
