CH3CH=CHCH3 + I2 -----> CH3CHICHICH3iodine dissolve in org solvent to form a purple solution
when iodine undergo addition reation withbut-2-ene ,
the solution turns colourless because 2,3-diiodobutane is formed

but-2-ene and iodine (aq) will under go ADDITION reaction
but-2-ene + br 2 -----> 2,3- dibromobutane
the red- orange colour of bromine disappears ( decolourized)
rapidly.
