What kind of math is this called? (-5+6)-(7--8)=?

I have math finals coming up, and I need to know what this kind of math is called. Like, what would your math teacher call this kind of problem? Sorry if the question is so...blunt, i guess, but I dont know how to put my question any other way.
更新1:

What if I added Letters to the problem? What would it be called then? Ex. (-5a+6b)-(7a--8b)=? Also, what would the answer be, and how did you solve it?

I would call it addition using positive and negative numbers, like they do in about the 3th grade.

It is NOT algebra.

It's arithmetic,to be more specific algebra and order of operations.

a(n)=[(-1)^(n)]*n
=[(-1)^(n-1)*(-1)]*n
S(1)=a(1)=(-1)
S(n)=[(-1)*(1-(-1)^n)]/2

Advanced PEMDAS arithmetic, I'd say, because you usually deal with positive integers in PEMDAS arithmetic exercises. Algebra dips in variables, and basic arithmetic is just adding, subtracting, etc.

Order of Operations- you know how to do it, don't you?

I'd call it arithmetic, since algebra usually revolves around the idea of placeholders.

Perhaps the most advanced concept necessary to solve that problem woud be an understanding of the distributive property.
