The Hong Kong Judicial System is made up of the High Court, which consist of:

The Court of Final Appeal (CFA), which is the ultimate decision maker and the final interpreter of law in Hong Kong
The Court of Appeal (CA), which handles appeals from the Courtof First Instance. Guidelines on sentencing and interpretation of law is dealt with here.
The Court of First Instance, which is where trials by jury of indictable offences take place. The CFI has unlimited sentencing power in criminal cases and also handles civil cases involving amounts higher than HK$1,000,000.
and the Lower Courts, which includes:

The District Court(DC), which may try all serious criminal cases except murder, manslaughter and rape. The maximum term of imprisonment it can impose is 7 years. The DC also handles civil cases involving amounts lower than HK$1,000,000.
The Magistrate Court, which handles both indictable and summary criminal offences. It has a maximum sentencing power of 2 years imprisonment.
