For x < -4-(2x-1) - (x+4) = 9
2x - 1 + x + 4 + 9 = 0
3x = -12
x = -4
For -4 < x < 1/2
-(2x-1) + (x+4) = 9
-2x + 1 + x + 4 - 9 = 0
x = -4
For x > 1/2
(2x - 1) + (x + 4) = 9
3x = 6
x = 2
So x = 2 or -4
