其實此歌有很多版本，不過較為人熟悉的，是westlife 03年的版本，成為了pop hit。我小學是天主教小學，我小五那年，亦即是03年已聽過這首歌。而我挑了這首歌作今年年尾亦音樂唱歌考試的歌曲xd

個人感受︰
這首歌是一首非常叫人感動的聖詩【我個人視之為聖詩，而我亦相信，這首歌應該是聖詩，而非一般流行曲】，加上歌詩亦真的寫得十分好。

現在，以我個人的角度，剖析一下這首歌、歌詞的意義，以及演唱技巧︰
[第一節]
i, When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
ii, When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
iii, Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
iv, Until you come and sit awhile with me.
這裏說的，是一個人很惆悵、很疲累，當困難煩惱來到，精神崩潰，然後在靜默中停下來、等待(等待神)，直至神(you指的是上帝)來到，坐在他身旁一會兒(意指︰撫慰他的心靈)
【你有沒有聽過「足印」這首聖詩，這段歌詞寫的也帶有這種感覺—在徬徨無助、惆悵難過、疲累軟弱時，我們得到神的幫助、撫慰，就會得到力量。】
由於這是歌首的第一段，應該在唱i 時mp - 稍弱、輕柔，並帶一份沉重；唱ii 句時就轉為mf - 變大成稍大聲，用一點力；唱iii 句時，應是四句中最用力最投入感情；最後vi 句時，轉弱為mp。

[第二節]
There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.
這裏說的是，沒有生命、沒有人是不飢餓(即人得不到心靈上的滿足)，每一顆不停的心都是不完美的，但當祢(神)來到，我感到十分驚訝。有時候，我想，我瞥見了永生(這是指天主教說的「死後的永生」——得到救贖後，能在天堂得到永生)
旋律跟第一節無分別，大細聲亦大致同上，但由於是重覆，要加強、用心一點，亦更可注入一些個人風格。

[第三節]
i, You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
ii, You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
iii, I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
iv, You raise me up: To more than I can be.
這裏說的是，祢幫助了我(亦即人借助了神的力量)，所以我才能站在高山之上；祢幫助了我，使我能走過佈滿風暴的海。我變得堅強，當我站在你的肩磅上。祢幫助了我，使我能做得比原來的我更多。
這是第一次chorus，唱i 時，應由mf轉作f，唱第ii 句時，稍稍下降；唱第iii 句時，便弱、柔一點。

[第四節]
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.
歌詞重覆了，但轉了調，所以要由mf轉ff，這裏應是很激動的，大細聲的對比運用能更有效地發揮。

[第五節]
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.
歌詞重覆了，調亦跟前一節一樣，除了第一個音(即you字)natural了，但同樣要由mf轉ff，而這裏應是最激動的，若能加入多幾把聲音效果便更好了。而這裏的最後一句︰to more than i can be就一定要收細聲。
然後以mp、漸慢唱最後最後那重複了的一句︰"You raise me up: To more than I can be."並加入一點 昇華 的感覺。
