"It is just an empty cup"-《Cars》

<<Cars>> 是 Pixar 的動畫電影 <<反斗車王>> , 主角 Lightning McQueen 在以下對話中與 The King 有一段對話, 提及你指出的那句:

The King: What are you doing, kid?
Lightning McQueen: I think the King should finish his last race.
The King: You just gave up the Piston Cup, you know that?
Lightning McQueen: Ah. This grumpy old race car I know once told me something: it's just an empty cup.

It 是指 the Piston Cup, 故可說成是: The Piston Cup is just an empty cup. Lightning McQueen 所放棄 (gave up) 的, 只不過是隻空杯 (empty cup), 換言之, 他是用別人曾經說過的話, 為自己辯護說: 自己之前放棄的只不過是隻空杯 (不管是代表甚麼獎項, 但也只不過是一隻杯). 然而, 比賽更重要的意義, 是完成比賽 (should finish his last race), 所以他希望 the King 不要放棄賽事.
