English Learner's Questions.?

I'm an English learner from China.
I have several questions in my English learning.
Thanks anyone who solves my questions, sincerely!

When I'm speaking English to myself, I feel pretty confident; but when I speak it to someone eles, I don't even have any sense in it, can't speak fluently. Actually, there isn't so many foreigners in my city, and my English teacher can just talk with us in Chinese. We are suffering from a lot of stress of messes of examinations; most of my classmates can read and write pretty well, while they don't speak English at all. I want to improve my English ability, but I don't have a good environment. Sometimes it makes me a little worried.

Is there any Chinese learners in your country? What do you think about our Chinese culture? Welcome to our country to participate in Beijing Olympic Games. I live in a brautiful country-Jinan, and welcome here as well.

Thank you sincerely again.

I am very impressed with your english. Your grammer and writing skills are very good. As for your question, " Are there any chinese learners in your country". We have many Chinese people here in the USA and many of them are learning english. I work with quite a few medical students here. International Link puts on a fellowship where chinese students and americans can get together and fellowship once a month. Quickly I have made many chinese friends.

What do I think of the Chinese culture? I think that the chinese and american cultures are very different. I went to China last year and experianced quite a few of them. One is how people react to others. Chinese people keep to themselves much more. I have never been to Jinan, but I have been to Hong Kong and Shi An and Shan tao. I am coming to china again this summer. When I get the name of the city we will be visiting I will let you know, for I am coming to teach english!
Hope this helps

I agree that your written English is very good. I think it is common to be better in writing in a foreign language than in speaking it. I think one of the possible reasons is that you have time to think and revise your written work but in speech, you have to be fast. Words have to come out of your mouth automatically.

To be better, I suggest that you speak your thoughts instead of going through them in your mind only. Practice in English with your friends. Pay attention to pronunciation. Watch English movies. If you want to have a British accent, then watch British movies, etc.

I think that it would be impossible for me to learn to speak any Chinese language this time. It is because the Chinese words appear to sound the same but different tones and inflections change their meaning. I think any Chinese language is more complicated than English. Also, I would need to study the thousands of individual characters for each word. That would mean a lot of memorization.

I wish you well in your English studies. You are actually already very good in writing it, much better than native English speakers!

Reading your question I can tell you that your English is good.

It seems that you need an English speaker to practice with but there aren't any around. I'm surprised that your English teacher doesn't speak English. I guess the only thing you can do is practice speaking English with your classmates. Another thing you might be able to do is download English podcasts to listen to on your computer. Radio shows and things like that.

There aren't really any Chinese learners here. Personally, I can tell you that I like the Chinese culture and Chinese people. Most people here don't like the Chinese government however.

Thank you and you're welcome.
