The story began in Philadelphia. This was where Malcolm Crowe, a child psychiatrist, was celebrating an award newly presented to him with his wife Anna. It did not take long before they found the half-naked Vincent, once a patient of Malcolm, hiding in their bathroom. Vincent was terribly desperate and delirious. While the Crowes were attempting to console him, he suddenly took out a gun. He shot Malcolm and then quickly shot himself.
Somehow Anna refused to talk to Malcolm after that incident. Though the marriage was worsening, Malcolm still took a new patient, a boy named Cole. Having similar symptoms and characters, Cole kept making Malcolm recalled Vincent. Being regretful for not have tried his own best to help Vincent, he devoted much time to help this Cole. Days after days, burgeoning trust was established between the two of them. Eventually, Cole revealed his secret to Malcolm: he could see ghosts walking around like normal people!
Malcolm encouraged Cole to entertain the requests of the ghosts instead of being scared by them. Cole followed his advice, and soon he was no longer haunted. Malcolm, on the other hand, had finally decided to try to rekindle his marriage. However, something really unexpected happened......
Although everyone should have known the story's twist ending, I still do not think I should divulge it here. When Malcolm came to that staggering realization about himself, he could only stand in awe, and indeed, it changed his life forever. I am quite sure that startling ending will also stun many audience. For some people like me, by contrast, may find the ending obvious before it even arrives, but it is still remarkably interesting to see how the director approaches to it.
This film is definitely not for the faint-hearted and children, as it contains quite a lot violent images and also intense thematic material. For others who have a strong enough heart, The Sixth Sense is absolutely an amazing movie and well worth the time you spend on it. If you still haven’t watch it, well, go out now and buy it now!
