1.The volumes of two boxes are in the ratio 3:8. If the volume of the larger box is 375 cm^3 more than the volume of the smaller, find the volume of each box.

2.Find the coordination of the point where the line 2x+3y=6,cut the y-axis.

3. 4.5cm represents 0.9km on a map. Find the length of a road on the same map measures 2km.

1) Let the larger box is X cm^3
so that the smaller box is X - 375 cm^3
the ratio of two boxes volume=
X-375 : X = 3: 8
=> (X-375) / X = 3/8
=> 8X - 3000 = 3X => X=600
so that the larger box is 600 cm^3 and the smaller is 225

2) The point lies on y-axis, so let the point (0,y)
put into the eq.: 2(0)+3y=6
=> y=2
3) 4.5cm represent 0.9km
=> 0.5cm represent 0.1km on map
=>2km= 20 (0.1km)
so the length on map is 20(0.5 cm)= 10cm
