be4 this game, Porto had 8 points in first place, they only needed one point to qualify the final 16. Tehy finally won 2-0 against Besiktas, defenitely on the top of the group with 11 points after the game.
Liverpool and Marseille both had 7 points be4 the game, Liverpool was in second place with beter goal difference. They both needed a victory to win, especially they both knew Porto could win Besiktas. In the game, marseille players were dreaming in the first half, Liverpool scored 2 goals in first 15 minutes Gerrard 4 , Torres 11 . The Marseille players were disappointed and played pretty bad for the entire whole game.
In the second half, Liverpool scored two goals again Kuyt 48 , Babel 90+ 1 , confirmed their second place with 10 points. After the match, Marseille's coach said
I feel disappointed. There's a lot of things I need to understand. I'm surprised by the performance of
my players. It's the first time I noticed they didn't give 100 per cent. I didn't like their attitude, but I
don't want to yell at them. They're old enough and I'm sure they're not going to sleep tonight.
Everybody was really focused before the game, but after the first goal we died.
