You have done a good job in describing the neck lesion.
It is likely from your description that it is a lymph node like you mentioned.
Most lymph nodes that are < 1cm, soft in consistency, freely mobile, not progressively increasing in size are just what we call reactive lymph nodes. They occur secondary to some upper respiratory infection eg tonsillitis in children. They are common and there is no need to worry.
Signs which suggest a more worrying cause would include: progressively increasing in size, > 1cm, hard in consistency, multiple lymph nodes to various places, persistent over few months, other features eg nose bleed, tinnitus(耳鳴): suggest nasopharyngeal cancer.
Don't worry, it is common to have reactive lymph nodes, most of them would resolve with time~
