The owners of an internet service provider need to borrow money to buy another set of servers. They have current liabilities of $15,000 and current assets of $52,000. How much can they borrow if they want their current ratio of assets to liabilities to be no less than 2.6?

let they can borrow x dollars
Then current ratio of assets to liabilities
=(52000+x)/(15000+x) [because Asset=Liabilities+Ower's equity]
They want this ratio larger than 2.6
So
(52000+x)/(15000+x)>=2.6
52000+x>=39000+2.6x
1.6x<=13000
x<=8125
So they can borrow at most 8125 if they want their current ratio of assets to liabilities to be no less than 2.6
