280 stamps are to be shared by Ada,Billy and Candy.Ada gets twice as much as Billy, and the number of stamps Candy has is 1/6 as that of Ada.
a. Find Ada's share :Candy's share.
assume Ada has 2x stamps,
then Billy has (2x/2)=x stamps and,
Candy has (2x/6)= x/3 stamps
Ada's share :Candy's share
=2x:x/3
=6x:x [multipy both sides by 6]
=6:1

b. How many stamps does each one get?
total stamps are 280 stamps
Ada's share +Candy's share+Billy's share =280
2x+x+x/3=280
10x/3=280
x=84
Therefore,
Ada has2(84)=168stamps,
then Billy has (2*84/2)=84 stamps and,
Candy has (2*84/6)= 84/3=28 stamps
