Your drivers in Kuala Lumpur are friendly but always would like to double the meter rate , not their fault entirely because your government agency in charge of implementing strict rules do not do their jobs.
On second thought , why in Singapore drivers are honest and they would not ask for contract price for getting you to their destination .Maybe those drivers in SG have more pride in driving those taxi .
we do not have any cabs out here interior the rustic... there's a county bus that is going by utilising thrice an afternoon, and the motive force is a sturdy buddy. I DID relish London's cabs back in 1979, 1985, and 1994. i wait for taking taxis and the Underground as quickly as I return to London this October / November.
if you meant cabbies in KL... i would say they were pretty friendly. to me at least and i am not local kl-lite. i have used a few times of the service and have chatted along the way.
two of them gave me the strongest impression. one was chinese who didnt believe i was from sabah and new to the place because according to him, lol sabahans dont speak cantonese as well as i did (ahem ahem lol) and as i replied that's because i watched cantonese series. he said he had been watching hindi movies for decades but still speak none at all. that made me laugh. and flattered. lol
the other driver was during my recent visit to KL, a malay pakcik who was very keen in his work. we talked about politics and "sensitive racial issues" and customs and traditions and what not... he gave me a convincing reason why they generally do not encourage interracial marriage, and it made sense ;-) we spent like 20 minutes in front of midvalley just yakking, in his cab. WITHOUT the meter running, of course!
