Tax Research on Treasury Bonds?

I'm currently doing a Tax Research project on Treasury Bonds, but I could not find anything that specifically spells out the terms and treatment of interests received on treasury bonds in the Internal Revenue Code. I can only find in the IRC the section on local and state bonds. Does anyone know where I can find information on treasury bonds in the IRC? (Or even court rulings, treasury regulations, etc)

Interest on Treasuries (bills, bonds, and notes) is subject to federal taxation. Under California law, interest is tax exempt. Your state may treat interest differently. The IRS will send the bondholder a 1099-INT in January.
