I would suggest eat breakfast after doing cardio 1st thing in the morning. But do have a drink of water and keep re-hydrating your body during cardio exercise. That will force your body to burn more fat, since the glucose level in your system will be low, after fasting/sleeping for 8+ hours. But it is different for weight/strength training, you'll need the extra energy for lifting weights. A complex carbo (low glycemic) pre-workout snack will be a good idea. It'll release the energy slowly through out your training session. And will be great if you can have a low fat high protein snack right after training.
