Group 1 metals

Are group 1 metals = metal fuel? Why we use Group 2 (and some from other groups or organic compounds) for metal fuel? If an oxidizer such as KNO3 made of Mg(NO3)2 instead? Does it work? If so, does the metal fuel also change to group 1?

For example instead of KNO3 + Mg, can we use Mg(NO3)2 + K for the reaction? Please help Im very confused.

Group 1 metals are more reactive than Group 2 metals.
so, kno3 + mg..................mg can't replace k+ but mg will react with water to form mg2+ and release hydrogen
mg(no3)2 + k ..............k will displace mg2+ to Mg(s) but k will react with water faster than displacing mg2+.
