The Secretary for Food and Health, Dr York Chow, has visited Hong Kong Wetland Park and Mai Po Nature Reserve on 15th November.According to his experience, he appeals to public to be careful of avian influenza. Besides, if we observe good personal hygiene and avoid contact with wild birds and their droppings, we can still enjoy the fun of bird watching.

The secretary for Food and Health said people ought to stay vigilant because it is the peak season for avian influenza outbreaks.Swab samples are collected in Mai Po Nature Reserve and the wetland for testing for H5 Virus.Fortunately,more than 4,500 droppings were collected from January to September this year and all tested negative.The people can enjoy the fun of bird watching.
