Let y = sister's savingsthen y+300 = John's savings
2/5 (y + 450) = (y+300) - 450
2/5 (y + 450) = y - 150
2 (y + 450) = 5 (y - 150)
2y + 900 = 5y -750
3y =1650
y = 550
y + 300 = 850
Total savings = 1400

X-450=(2/5)(x-300+450)
X-450=(2/5)x+60
(1/3)X=510
X=1530
total =1530+(1530-300)
=2760
