Let him know you are concern him and ask him why he is crying and let him know that you want to know what happen with him and say baby dont cry let me why you are crying?
Depends largely upon the situation and that man's perception of that situation.
If the situation deserves a genuine expression, manifestation of grief, sharing a sorrow, then consoling would just reduce the duration of incessant crying. Bring that person to a deeper sense of acceptance of the inevitability of the situation, and it would console.
put your arm around him. Don't pressure him to do anything, to speak or anything. Just let him know you're there. When he stops, then ask what's the matter.
