TA , TB and PR are tangents to the circle.TP=10cm,PR=7cm,RT=9cm,PA=x cm and RB=ycm.know that y-x=1.

Hence find the values of x and y

As follows:

TB = TA ( tangent prop. )
So,
9 + y = 10 + x
y - x = 1 --- ( 1 )
Then,
PQ = PA = x and QR = RB = y ( tangent prop. )
So, x + y = 7 --- ( 2 )
( 2 ) - ( 1 ): -2x = - 6
x = 3
y - 3 = 1
y = 4
