I think it should be EDTA instead of EDPA. The EDTA can be used to titrate the amount of Ca and Mg ions in teh water and therefore the hardness of the water can be detected.
1. The EDTA is a good chelating agent to divalent ion (M2+) such as Ca2+ or Mg2+. However, if the mineral ions in teh water is monovalent. It will not be possible to detect these ions.
2. Drinking mineral water can be a supplement of the mineral uptake. Also, the mineral water is close to istonic to our body fluid. So, teh water can easier to be absorbed. However, if too much mineral water is taken, the excessive ions will also cause health problem such as the "stones" in our body. Also, if you are hypertension patients, the blood pressure will be severely affected if the mineral water is rich in sodium ions.
