1). Find two largest possible consecutive integers such that their sum is less than 55.

2). The figure shows an isosceles triangle whose base is 3 cm shorter than each equal side. If the perimeter is greater than 54 cm, find the range of the length of earch equal side.

3). Wendy is driving at x km/h. If her speed is increased by 20 km/h, the distance travelled in 3 hours is at least equal to that travelled in 4 hours at her originial speed. Find the maximum value of x.

1. Let x be the largest integer required.
x + (x-1) < 55
2x - 1 < 55
2x < 56
x < 28
Hence the largest integer is 27, i.e.
the two consecutive integers required is 26 and 27.
2. Let x be the length of the equal side.
x + x + (x - 3) > 54
3x - 3 > 54
3x > 57
x > 19
The range of length is "greater than 19 cm"
3. 3(x+20) >= 4x
3x + 60 >= 4x
x<= 60
The maximum value of x is 60
