the weight of a bag of sugar is measured to be 125g with a percentage error of 0.4%, find the range of the true weight of the sugar.

Percentage error = absolute error/ measured value * 100%
0.4% = absolute error/125 * 100%
absolute error = 0.5
Range of true weight = (125-0.5) to (125+0.5)
= 124.5 g to 125.5 g

Find the range of the true weight of the sugar
125x(1-0.4%)
=124.5
125x(1+0.4%0
=125.5
so the range of the true weight of the sugar is 124.5g-125.5g

=125x(1+0.4%)
=125.5g

the lower limit
=125x(1-0.4%)
=124.5g

so,the range is between 124.5g to 125.5g.

Maximum absolute error
= Measured value X percentage error
= 125 X 0.4%
= 0.5 g
upper limit of the weight of the bag
= measured value+maximum absoulte error
= 125 + 0.5
= 125.5 g
Lower limit of the weight of the bag
= measured value﹣maximum absoulte error
= 125 – 0.5
= 124.5 g
Therefore, range of true value of the weight is 124.5 g ~ 125.5 g
