This is a correct sentence. When you use , ...... , it's the supplement, which you want to give extra information. Moreover, between , ....... , you can take that phrase out and it wouldn't influence the meaning of the original sentence.
For example,
1. Mr Richardson is a good looking person.
2. Mr Richardson, my English teacher, is a good looking person.
In the 1st sentence, I wanted to tell people Mr Richardson is a good looking person.
In the 2nd sentence, except I wanted to tell people Mr Richardson is a good looking person, I also want to tell people that Mr Richardson is my English teacher.
Without (my English teacher) this sentence still makes sense.
