Don't Trust Fox!
One day Crow saw a big piece of meat on the ground. He flew down and picked up the meat, then went to the top branch of a tall tree. Fox looked up into the tree and saw Crow holding the meat in her beak. The meat looked so delicious that Fox made a plan.
‘How beautiful is Crow,' Fox sang up to Crow. ‘Her black wings are as pretty as the night sky. Her eyes are as wide as the moon. But, sadly, I have not heard her sing. If her voice is equal to her beauty, she would be the Queen of Birds!' Crow, happy to teach Fox how beautiful she really was, opened her mouth and began a loud ‘Caw!' As she did this, however, the meat dropped out of her mouth.
Fox quickly picked up the delicious meat and began to walk away. As he walked, he yelled: ‘My good Crow, your voice is right enough, but your head is a bit slow!'
Lesson: Don't always trust someone who flatters you.
Flatter: To say nice things about someone. For example, ‘Your skirt is so pretty' or ‘You're a very good football player.'
