The sun is the hottest star in the Solar system because it is the only star in the Solar system.

However, it is not the hottest star. The color of a star shows its surface temperature. The main controlling factor is the mass of the star and its composition indicating the age of a star. Our star is not very massive, and there are more massive star that emit color more toward the blue side of the spectrum indicating that they are much hotter than our sun.

The surface temperate of our sun is about 5500-6000 Kelvin, but it is hotter the the closest neighbouring star that we have, Proxima Centauri, which is only about 2600 - 3850 Kelvin.
