since { log(10)^n = n }
so log to a 10 ^power , the power actually is the answer even it is a irrational (so n is real number)
(except using other base , if don t have any littele number after log , that s mean base 10 , sometimes some books just put lg for log if base 10)
if i say log 4 with base 2 , then 2^2 = 4 , then answer = 2
so { log (n)^2 = 2 } with base n ( i am sure for n is postive integer)
here 100 = 10^2
so log 100 = 2
or
{log(abc)= log a + log b +log c}
a = 1, b = 10 ,c = 10
(x^0 = 1 , 10^0 also = 1, so log 1 = 0 from the formula at the top)
this just showing the fornula at the top is work for n = 0 as well and showing if you say 100 = 1 x1 x1x1x1x1...x1 x 10 x 10 , then
log 100 = log 1 + log 1+ log 1................. +log 10 + log 10 )
= (some positive integer x 0) + 1 + 1
= 2 (same answer as above)
hope help you understand in log

if you want to know what is log 9 with base 2 , thenlog 9 / log 2 = answeralso that s mean 2^(the answer ) = 9same as above log 100 means 10 ^2 = 100
