Interest rate will increase to encourage people to save money rather than spend money. This could reduce inflation(通脹). This could be a tight Monetary Policy.

Also, an increase in interest rate would cause firms less likely to invest ( firms spending money) according Marginal Efficiency Of Capital (MEC). This would also reduce inflation.
