Paypal is using an email address as login ID, so Paypal already knows your email address at the time the buyer send you the payment. Paypal will send you an email to let you know you got the money , but you must have an account to receive that, Paypal will ask you to set up an account. You should use the same email address which Paypal had contacted you, otherwise you cannot receive that payment.

Paypal don't know and don't care you send out the items or not, they will not hold the money, that's why you have to make sure you did receive the payment before you send out anything. The status of the payment should show "completed" means done.

Paypal is accepted the payment which made by credit card, debit card and echeck, ususally credit card payment is just completed in a second, but echeck - it takes at least 7-10 days to clear the echeck, Paypal will estimate the date for you, and you can check back you account and see, the status of the payment will show " uncleard" or "cleared" .

Did you receive any email from Paypal, if not, please check with you buyer and make sure they got your correct email address or you may ask him to forward an email from Paypal which will show the detail of the payment and your email address.
