Production of HCl

When Cl2 is added to H2O, HCl will be formed. Is HCl a gas state or liquid state? If gas state, do we add it into the water again to make HCl acid?

It should be in aqueous state. As HCl produced immediate dissolve in water.
This is not a practical method to produce pure HCl which is in gas state
