「傳媒教育」有四個層面:
(1) 認識(Understanding)
傳媒不斷潛移默化地在我們的腦袋注入訊息,例如廣告片中對美麗、成功等東西的定義,這些訊息不斷影響著我們的價值觀,我們絕不能置身事外。我們要認清傳媒給大眾的訊息,提高「批判性醒覺」(Critical Awareness)。

(2) 分析(Analysis/Deconstruction)
「傳媒教育」教導我們從解構新聞報導、廣告的意識形態中,明白傳媒真正要表達的訊息。我們要有「傳媒素養」(Media Literacy),懂得看清楚訊息背後的言外之意(Read between the lines)。

(3) 運用(Production)
不要以為傳媒訊息一定是不良的,「傳媒教育」其實教導我們提高分辨是非的能力,懂得去選擇優質的節目,不致浪費時間。例如一些主題不健康的新聞或節目,好像烹屍新聞、有獎遊戲節目等等,我們可以選擇不去看。另外,我們要懂得運用傳媒力量表達自己的意見,例如學習製作屬於自己學校的校園電視節目。
