Shouldn't it be : I sat with my grandmother on the sofa and read (some) books?

My grandmother sat on the sofa and read books.

應該是My grandmother was sitting on the sofa and reading books.

I with my grandmother sat on the sofa and read books.

應該是My grandmother and I were sitting on the sofa and reading books.

My grandmother and I NOT I with my grandmother

there is no mistake because (read) can be the past tense of (read), so same spelling, only they will pronounce differently.
