1. 6* $8 +$a *10=78a*10=30
a=3
2. It is impossible he is 8 years old now, have u made a typing mistake.
3. Let A be the bigger numer, B be the smaller number
A-B= 12
3*B + 1/4 *A =14
3*(A-12) + 1/4*A =14
3A -36 +1/4*A=14
12A -144 +A =56
13A =200
A =200/13 //
B= A-12
=200/13 -12
=(200 -156)/13
=44/13 //
