You can contact your school's accomodation office for on/off campus accomodation information.

On-campus accomodation: Different types of accomodation at school, such as apartment/house, serviced apartment (someone clean up for you), mixed gender floor, girls' floor, etc. Each has different characteristics.

Off-campus accomodation: You can obtain a list from your school, such as private houses/appartments/units to rent, shared accomodations (people look for housemates), student appartments, homestay (live with a local family include room and board), etc.

In my opinion, I would suggest you stay at the residential hall at school. You can make friends easily and move out with them next semester.

For those who don't know how to take care of themselves, homestay is a good choice, you have a family taking care of your daily life. Some families are willing to listen to you and help out the school assignments. Of couse, they charged you more since they provide food, room and house keeping services.
