Applicants are expected to be holders of:
1) a recognized Bachelor Degree in any discipline, or
2) an Associate Degree, Higher Diploma, Advanced Diploma or an equivalent sub-degree award.

Introduction
The Advanced Certificate in Psychology is a part-time study programme primarily designed for those who are interested to acquire a foundational knowledge in some key areas of Psychology, including Social Psychology, Development Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, and Organisational Behaviour. It caters for practitioners in various fields such as education, business, human resources, nursing, and public services etc. seeking to enhance personal or professional development. For degree holders (in a different discipline) who are considering for further studies in Psychology, the Advanced Certificate programme will provide a good understanding of the discipline and better prepare them for studies at a higher level.
Programme Duration and Delivery Mode
The Advanced Certificate in Psychology programme can be completed in 1 year (two semesters) on part-time basis. Maximum registration period is three years. There are 2 intakes per year, commencing in mid-April or mid-October. Students are required to take at least 2 modules per semester unless approval granted by the programme leader.
Learning Outcome and Progression
Upon the completion of the Advanced Certificate in Psychology, candidates will be able to describe and explain the major theoretical approaches in several key areas of psychology. They are expected to be able to apply their knowledge in Psychology in the workplace and in daily life, such as explaining social behaviour, human developmental stages, organisational behaviour, and mental health issues. Based on personal merits and academic background, holders of the Advanced Certificate in Psychology may be eligible to apply for an undergraduate programme in psychology with advanced standing. For degree holders, this programme will better prepare them for further studies in Psychology.
